Church of the Risen Christ is an interdenominational Christian church that draws deeply from the richness of Lutheran theology. This means our doors are open to Christians from every background, while our teaching, worship, and sacramental life are shaped by the historic Lutheran understanding of the Gospel. We are not a Lutheran denomination — but we are joyfully and unapologetically Lutheran in theology.
What “Interdenominational” Means for Us
Being interdenominational means:
People from all Christian traditions are welcome
No one must “become Lutheran” to belong
We honor the diversity of the wider Body of Christ
We focus on unity in Christ rather than denominational labels
Our community includes Lutherans, Catholics, Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists, Pentecostals, and those new to faith. All stand on equal footing here.
What “Lutheran in Theology” Means for Us
While our membership is diverse, our theological center is distinctly Lutheran. This includes:
Christ at the center of everything
Grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone
The distinction of Law and Gospel
The Real Presence of Christ in Holy Communion
Baptism as God’s saving promise
The authority of Scripture interpreted through Christ
The historic liturgy of the Church
We draw from the Augsburg Confession, Luther’s Small Catechism, and the broader Lutheran tradition as faithful expressions of the Christian faith.
Why This Identity Matters
This combination allows us to be:
Rooted without being rigid
Traditional without being exclusionary
Sacramental without being sectarian
Inclusive without abandoning theological depth
We believe the Lutheran tradition offers a clear, Christ-centered, grace-filled way of understanding the Gospel — one that speaks powerfully to people from every background.
A Church for All People
Because our identity is grounded in grace, we welcome:
People from any denomination
People with questions or doubts
People who have been hurt by the church
LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families
Anyone seeking a community shaped by Christ’s love
Our unity is not in a label — our unity is in Jesus Christ.
In Summary
We are interdenominational in community, Lutheran in theology, traditional in worship, and inclusive in welcome.
This is who we are. This is the church we are called to be. This is the grace we proclaim.
