Theological Statement

We are a Church rooted in the ancient faith, guided by the Holy Spirit, shaped by grace, and open to all whom Christ calls. We hold fast the apostolic tradition while embracing the simplicity and humility of the Primitive faithβ€”trusting not in our own works, but in the mercy of the One who has saved us.
πŸ“– Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 2:11–14; 2 Corinthians 5:17.

I. The Foundation of Our Faith

1. Jesus Christ our Savior
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, our personal Savior and Redeemer, who through His death and resurrection has brought us to new life.
πŸ“– John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5–7; 1 Peter 1:3.

2. The Holy Trinity
We believe in the Holy Trinity β€” Father, Son, and Holy Spirit β€” one God in three divine Persons, eternal and equal in power and glory.
πŸ“– Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16–17; Deuteronomy 6:4.

3. The Creeds and the Undivided Faith
We believe and profess the Athanasian, Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds as faithful witnesses to the ancient and undivided faith of the Church.
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Ephesians 4:4–6; 1 Timothy 3:16; Jude 1:3.

4. Authority of Scripture
We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired witness to God’s revelation in Christ Jesus. Scripture, when rightly understood in its historical and theological context and interpreted within the life of the Church, remains the supreme rule and guide for faith and life.
πŸ“– 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12; John 20:31.

5. Faith as an Experience of Grace
We affirm that true faith is not only professed but experienced, as the Holy Spirit draws us into communion with Christ.
πŸ“– Romans 8:14–16; Galatians 2:20; Philippians 3:10; John 14:23.

6. Sin and Redemption
We believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that apart from His grace we cannot save ourselves. Yet in Christ, sin is forgiven, broken, and redeemed.
πŸ“– Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; 1 John 1:9.

II. The Church and the Sacraments

7. The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church
We believe in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, the Body of Christ in the world.
πŸ“– Ephesians 4:4–6, 11–13; Colossians 1:18; Matthew 16:18.

8. Apostolic Succession and the Work of the Spirit
We hold to the apostolic succession of the ministry and the guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout the ages.
πŸ“– 2 Timothy 2:2; Acts 1:20–26; John 16:13; Acts 20:28.

9. The Sacraments
We believe that the sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace. Baptism and the Holy Eucharist are the Sacraments of the Gospel instituted by Christ Himself. Other rites, including Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, Confession and Reconciliation, Marriage, and Holy Orders, are means by which God continues to nurture and strengthen His people.
πŸ“– Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:14–17; Luke 22:19–20; James 5:14–15; John 20:22–23; Matthew 19:5–6; 1 Timothy 4:14.

10. Holy Orders for All the Called
We affirm that all Holy Orders β€” bishops, priests, and deacons β€” are open to both men and women, as each is called by God and discerned by the Church.
πŸ“– Acts 2:17–18; Romans 16:1–7; Galatians 3:28; 1 Corinthians 12:4–6.

11. Celibacy as a Personal Vocation
We believe that celibacy is a personal spiritual vocation, not a requirement, and that both married and celibate clergy may faithfully serve.
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 7:7–9, 32–35; 1 Timothy 3:2–5; Hebrews 13:4.

12. Local Church within the Universal Communion
We hold that the local congregation is a sacred and autonomous expression of Christ’s Body, guided by the Holy Spirit, yet ordered within and in communion with the universal Church.
πŸ“– Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5; 1 Corinthians 12:12–14, 27; Colossians 3:14–15.

13. Simplicity and Reverence in Worship
We strive for simplicity and authenticity in worship, seeking not grandeur but the presence of the living Christ, with reverence and heartfelt devotion.
πŸ“– John 4:23–24; Micah 6:8; Matthew 6:6–8; Philippians 2:3.

πŸ“– Galatians 5:22–25; Ephesians 4:22–24; James 2:17; Matthew 5:16.

16. Marriage and Mercy
We affirm the sanctity of marriage and commitment between two individual people, while trusting in the mercy of Christ toward those who have experienced divorce or remarriage.
πŸ“– Matthew 19:5–6; John 8:1–11; Romans 8:1–2; Ephesians 5:25–28.

πŸ“– Micah 6:8; James 4:6, 10; Proverbs 3:5–6; Philippians 2:3.
